The Assessment and Strengthening Program (ASP-LUMS) is a USAID funded project with the key objective of developing and making the working of public and development sector institutions in Pakistan more effective, efficient and transparent. As a sustainability initiative, ASP-LUMS has established a Center for Governance and Public Management (CGPM) with the vision to build a brighter Pakistan by imparting cutting edge knowledge in functional areas to develop effective, efficient and service centric institutions. This center is an integral part of Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) at LUMS.

Applications are invited against the following faculty position at ASP-LUMS (CGPM):

Economics and Public Finance (full-time Assistant Professor):

Candidates should possess a PhD Degree in Economics, Public Policy, Public Administration or a related discipline and a demonstrated ability for teaching and research in the area with special focus on the following:

  • Public expenditure analysis
  • Taxation
  • Intergovernmental fiscal relations
  • Financial management
  • Budget analysis.

E-Governance (full-time Assistant Professor):

Candidates should possess a PhD Degree in Information Systems, Public Policy, Public Administration or a related discipline and a demonstrated ability for teaching and research in the area with special focus on the following:

  • International and comparative e-governance
  • Cross-boundary collaboration in e-government
  • Web 2.0 in government
  • Management and implementation of e-government projects
  • Civic engagement and service delivery via electronic channels

ASP-USAID Job Openings

Assessment and Strengthening Program (ASP) is a USAID funded Program which is designed to bring the management of Pakistani Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the Government of Pakistan (GOP) Organizations to a higher level of management excellence, accountability and transparency. Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is a participant in the realization of this proposal. Its role is to provide the academic resources required to assess and strengthen Pakistans CSO and GOP resources through requisite Training and Research. Applications are invited against the following positions at ASP-LUMS.

 

Assistant Manager Training

Position Purpose: To plan, design and manage training programs by assisting the course director.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist the faculty member in designing ad, schedule , case studies and materials
  • Updating training calendar and schedules
  • Preparing folders for the participants before the start of the training program
  • Coordinate with the Trainers for Course Contents, Sharing of Knowledge Base of Target Audience
  • Delivery of  the program according to the terms and conditions agreed upon in the proposal
  • Gather data and generate training reports as necessary
  • Manage training facility and equipment
  • Submitting evaluation report to course management committee of the training programs
  • Deal with all aspects of training finance, including processing course payments, sending and processing invoices, processing travel expense claims, and accurately and efficiently maintaining and monitoring finance records
  • Coordinate with applicants to ensure smooth enrollment
  • Maintaining the record of trainings and gathering reports as and when required
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Education: 4 year Bachelors or Master degree from HEC recognized university

Experience: 2-3 years of relevant experience

Skills:

  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Willing to work late hours (if required)
  • Willing to travel (if required)
  • Good computer and database management skills
  • Command over MS office
  • Good communications skills

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

Position Purpose: Assist the Lead or Co-Lead Faculty in the development of trainings materials and in producing the training outcomes like cases, articles etc
Main Responsibilities

  • Assist faculty lead and faculty co-lead in developing training material
  • Field data collection
  • Analyzing data using various qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Writing training materials (case studies, articles, exercises, etc.)
  • Coordination and administration relevant to ASP-LUMS training programs
  • Liaison with ASP-LUMS project office
  • Any other duties Assigned

Qualification, Experience & Skills Required

  • 4 years Bachelors/Masters Degree from an HEC recognized university   
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Good Communication skills
  • Quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
