Mathematics is not just about numbers and calculations but also provides a practical approach to problem solving and is the key to effective decision making. It also helps in building very important skills such as the ability to think logically, analyze complex situations and conduct research.

The PhD Mathematics programme
at LUMS is structured to impart world class
education in mathematics. All that is required
on the part of the student is enthusiasm and
genuine interest in the subject. High quality
research and advanced courses are the strengths
of this programme, which are supported by professional
and dedicated faculty, excellent library facilities
and funding opportunities. A doctoral degree
in mathematics will widen your career options
including opportunities existing in government,
industry, research and education. |

The University's policy is
to admit students purely on merit regardless
of their financial status or background. The
PhD Mathematics programme offers a full tuition
fee waiver to all students who are not funded
from other sources. Other forms of financial
assistance include a stipend of up to Rs 20,000
per month to outstanding and/or deserving students.
Teaching assistantships may also be available
to selected students.
