Our Focus Area

| Research |
|
|
|
An entire
infrastructure of entrepreneurship courses,
programs, teaching positions, endowed chairs,
journals, and centers has emerged in U.S. institutions
of higher learning since an entrepreneurship
course was first offered to Harvard MBA students
in 1947. In comparison there is very little
research being done and literature being published
in the field of entrepreneurship in Pakistan
. One of our key objective is to carry out regular
and ongoing research in this area. The research
is conducted through a variety of means and
our findings are published and released on regular
basis |

SME and entrepreneurship
related research work is conducted by various
faculty members at LUMS. ESMEC conducted a longitudinal
survey of 650 manufacturing SMEs in the country
to gauge the health of this sector. The results
of this survey are published in the report SME
Pulse. The department is now following that
report up with another one with a sample size
of 1000 SMEs. |

Guest
Speakers |
|
|
|
At the centre,
we recognize the central truth: "Entrepreneurs
learn by doing". So we invite guest speakers
to share their personal experiences with students
to give them access to hands-on practical knowledge
on entrepreneurship. Nauman Farooqi was our
last guest speaker. |

The
Entrepreneur |
|
|
|
Pakistan has
many wonderful stories of entrepreneurship -
of many people who started with nothing and
over time, built successful businesses. The
Entrepreneur, ESMEC's annual newsletter, is
the way to share that wealth of experience with
the people who would gain the most from it.
The Entrepreneur is a combination of surveys,
articles and case studies from both the local
and international front. |

The first
issue "The Entrepreneur” was published
in mid-2006 followed by the second edition in
mid-2007. |
